Vanity Roles

Reward members who rep your server in their Discord status. When someone puts a phrase you choose — like .gg/yourserver — in their custom status, Phantom gives them a role, and takes it back when they remove it.

Rolling out

Vanity Roles is a Phantom Pro feature that is still rolling out. Reading a member's custom status needs Discord's privileged presence access, so the page shows a placeholder and the /pvanity commands stay hidden until it is switched on. Everything below is how it behaves once it is. We'll announce it on the dashboard and in our Discord.

Where it lives

Dashboard: Community → Vanity Roles. Staff slash command: /pvanity.

Slash commands

All of these are staff-only.

  • /pvanity add <string> <role> — add a rule: grant role while string appears in a member's status.
  • /pvanity remove [role] [string] — remove matching rules by role, by string, or both.
  • /pvanity list — list your server's vanity rules.

How it works

  • Each rule pairs a phrase with a role. Matching ignores capital letters by default.
  • The moment a member's status includes the phrase, they get the role; when the phrase is gone, the role comes off.
  • Presence changes are picked up as they happen, and a sweep every five minutes catches anything missed — a member who came back online, or a rule you deleted on the dashboard.
  • Going offline never costs a member their role — Discord only shows a status while someone is online, so Phantom holds the role and re-checks when they're back.
  • Phantom only ever removes a role it granted itself, so a role someone was given by hand is never stripped.
  • Phantom needs Manage Roles, and each vanity role must sit below Phantom's highest role.

Settings

SettingWhat it does
EnabledMaster switch for the module.
Ignore capital lettersOn by default. Off means .GG/Server won't match a rule written .gg/server.
RulesUp to 15 phrase → role pairs. A phrase is 2–100 characters. The same phrase pointed at the same role twice is folded into one rule.
AnnouncementOptionally post an embed when someone earns a vanity role.
Announcement channelWhere that embed goes.
Announcement title / description / colourThe embed copy. Title up to 256 characters, description up to 1,000. Leave the colour blank for Phantom cyan.

Current holders

The dashboard page lists everyone currently holding a vanity role, with the phrase that matched and when it was granted. That list is what Phantom checks before removing a role, which is why a hand-assigned copy of the same role is safe.

Announcement placeholders

TokenResolves to
{user}Mentions the member
{user.name}The member's username
{user.display_name}The member's server display name
{user.id}The member's Discord ID
{role}Mentions the granted role
{role.name}The granted role's name
{vanity}The phrase that matched
{server}Your server's name

A token Phantom doesn't recognise is left in the message exactly as typed, so a typo is obvious the first time the announcement fires.
